I seem to recall a thread about this a few months ago but can't seem to get search to work on my phone for some reason

Basically I've got a 2002 vw lt35 high roof mwb and want to update it as i want signwriting and she's a bit scruffy to get done

Plus i don't want to spend money on signwriting then have to get it done again in a few years

So decided now is the time to upgrade

Looking for similar size around a 2010 plate

All ideas and opinions welcomed

Sprinter or crafter all day for me. Ive got 2 sprinters, a mwb and a lwb, just make sure the DPF's are in working order and service history is up to date. My lwb was an ex DPD van so a lot of stop starts. Just had a new dpf fitted and its given it a new lease of life. Also out of maintenance ive recently done brakes all round, clutch and flywheel and had the gearbox refurbed. I just need a new gearstick as the plastics inside have worn and its hard to get into 1st and 2nd. That is a 2008 311. My mwb is a 2006 315 twin turbo model with 150bhp. It has air con and cruise control and I love it. It has been a one owner van before me and although its showing 420,000miles it had a brand new engine and turbo fitted 150,000 miles ago so loads of life left in it. Only real problem with mercs is the paint work, they rust really quickly. im lucky though as my mates a painter and did the lwb when I first bought it and the mwb is going in in the new year before I put stickers on it and stainless bars with lights on it everywhere.

I was going to get a tranit of similar age to what you are looking at but 5 different mechanics said to stay away from them although you can get a lot of van for not much budget.

Mercedes and VW's best vans I would never buy French ever again, I have a 61 reg mk7 SWB tranny can't really complain at the moment,but these things do rust mega.

Keep an eye out for rust underneath near the rear suspension hangers and inner sills, the rot for fun! Mercs are no better as my mwb needs a new rear door before going in the paintshop due to it rotting through

Just not enough paint put on from manufacture. I used to work at a commercial vehicle repair shop and we had a few in that had full resprays under warranty because of rust after just a few months old. Not sure if merc still give out the warranty bit they still do crap painting

I know the Vitos are built in Spain so could be a reason they rust so bad
