Just to take the gray shadow off. I don't want anything so aggressive that it changes the bead profile. I used to use one in welding school, but that was 20 years ago and I forgot which one it was.

I’ve always found the little 2” and 3” steel wire wheels fairly good at cleaning and don’t remove material although may scratch it up a little if your a bit heavy handed.
In my world its seam seal and chassis black ,,, hide it quick before an mot
wire wheels depend a lot on what profile your trying to get into , what you have at hand to spin them , and the space you have to get into , a simple cup wheel in a grinder gets good results ,
but ppe is vital , a visor and a leather jacket or apron , those wire hairs end up sticking straight out of everything.
