Cant get any good AC/DC unit for under a grand. The IFL AC/DC unit is about £1700 which i guess is similar in price to the lorch units. Bet you can get a nice DC one for under £1000 though?

Weldequip can indeed supply Lorch machines, but I can tell you that there is no way you'll get a Lorch AC/DC for below £1000. Sorry.

Might I suggest that you take a look at the range made by DECA, here in Italy. Good quality, wide range, instructions in English as well as Italian!
I don't sell anything at all - just use them - and I have had good experiences with them. You might find a local agent via Google, or just buy directly. The website is in English as well, so it shouldn't be hard to figure out what they do that might fit in with your need.
Another excellent company here is Telwin - they make excellent welding kit in their factory in northern Italy. Close enough to fly over by Ryanair for a tenner and pick one out for yourself!
Buy European, eh?!!
