I find the traditional ones far too bulky now for electrical work.

thats why i use the dewalt one not 2 fat nice to hold and use quick release blades and you can give it hard punishment without knacking it

I had a bit of a thing years ago for the genuine Knack knife I picked up from Costco. The first ones were diecast and built like a tank.

Then came the chrome plated plastic and black, rubberised plastic ones. Not a patch on the original. This sort of thing:

I think i will have to try one of the foldy ones now, be rude not to.
Still going to see if i can "obtain" or find a traditional one or two.
Have a car booty lover mate, might put him onto sourcing old ones

A whole load of the retractable 99 Stanleys, I seem to just acquire them, I honestly don't remember ever going out and buying one !

I somehow ended up down to one and had to buy one when i didn't have one to hand

I can only guess they started breeding because they're everywhere, even resorted to giving them away. still over 10 of them scattered about. only ever had this problem with random wild cats turning up

my old trusty fixed blade mysterialy went amiss probably fell in the bin got mrs z to get a fatmax type, came back with some over engineered folding pos must have been a uni students project , had been cussin it
dismantling it 10 mins to change a blade etc
a friend pointed out a "wee red button " oh dear red face time press button change blade
still a pos too much flex
and slop blade moving
so a freind gave me another real one in its simplest form and im happy again
