Which router bit brand ?

I've bought a new toy, makita laminate trimmer has self guide adapter so no need for bit with bearing hopefully.

What straight bit gives best finish for trimming laminate edging on worktops?

Was the guide bush correct size, looked at those and a few warned they were slightly small and took too much off, either that or the bush disinterested and killed the top.

I bought a set of Trend bits. I'm not liable to use them often, but that way I have every bit I'm liable to need, & if quality isn't up to snuff & there's a particular bit or two I'm liable to use frequently, I can easily buy a higher quality make of particular bit.

mine Is fitted with a bearing on the cutter shaft. Never checked or measured it

This is a very important point. Most reviews are probably by kevin, trying to do something he can’t with a silver line tool

every tradesman knows it’s always the tool that’s wrong

in this case the wrong tool is the one with the power tool

I've used them and they seem fine, but I'm not really a woodworker.

My previous small router cost 7 quid from b n q many years ago, the bit that's in it is almost as old.

Will pick up a couple trend ones up tomorrow, I've 5 doors to fit for daughter, will see how it all compares to my current cheapo setup.

Screwifix have pro bottom bearing self guide one will give that a go.

Trend freud or wealden have all served me well.

Earuber I bought to get me out of a hole have held up very well and done a few worktops without loosing their edge

Oh and buy a bearing cutter.

Easier than trying to set up a fence for trimming laminate.

Though for 600mm edges I use a block plane angled in.

It comes with a proper little guide with its own bearing, will give both a go and see which I like.

Not too fussed on the doors any cutter that dosen't disintegrate on contact should do for hinges and catch.

Decent 7mm straight flute has been my go to for years for hinges and latches. Get a year or so out of them unless I hit metal.

Center drills and a corner chisel are useful.

Axcaliber are fine too (Axminster own brand)
Or some something a little more pro, Freud, CMT...

Erebaur straight and one with guide bearing, a Freud blade for saw and a 280 diamond disk, was limited by stuff in stock, will see how the baur bits work out.
