Hi i've got £500 to spend on a plasma cutter, i want it to cut up to 12mm (not all day) 240v got a compresser bla bla! seen quite a few on ebay within my price range. Just wondering if any knows a good make. thanks simon
I have a sureweld unit im looking to offload , good machine .(not in the same league as hypertherm tho!) just dont have any use for it anymore . Its in the for sale section might be a page or two back by now .
In your position, I think I'd be looking at R-tech. I think 12mm is beyond a cut40.com plasma cutter, but they're definitely the best option when looking at the generic chinese plasma cutters.
I have an rtech p30, it is fine on material upto 7mm but beyond that it struggles. Everything has to perfect, tips, electrode, dry air etc for it to perform well above 7mm
I use it mainly on material upto 5mm where it works really well, but i'm for selling it to buy the bigger p40, so as to save on my oxy/acetylene.
Maybe a second hand Hypertherm Powermax 30 might be available for around the £500 mark. Quite a few people are trading them in to buy the bigger Powermax 45.
Speak to some Hypertherm dealers to see what they have in stock, since the machines have 3 years warranty from new the warranty on a second hand one may still be beter than the cheaper alternatives.
