Are you talking about the 255mm or the 355mm one?Typically the big one isn't on special at Screwfix, I'll wait to see if Screwfix send me a discount card again soon.

My expensive dewalt suffers the same. stick a bit of 2x1 against the fence first as a sacrificial fence and jobs a goodun. Helps having near 400mm of cut capacity though. Nice being able to chuck a green oak sleeper on it and cut in one passI was building a workbench last year and wanted to use these joints:

So, I borrowed my dad's Evolution sliding mitre saw.
Ended up using a tenon saw and chisel.
The evolution (in common with all the cheaper sliding mitres I've since looked at) is incapable of slotting timber like that - the fence sits behind the centreline of the blade so it always leaves a ramp. Even flipping the workpiece leaves a bump in the middle to chisel out so it's no quicker than doing it by hand - you can space out from the fence, but then you're lucky if you can cut 2" timber.
For just lopping stuff off it's fine (and can be made to cut perfectly square if you defeat the presets) but I can't say I'm a fan.
Any more Info on refurbs Frankalso, De-Walt do refurbs, that's where my 305mm came from.....2/3'rds the price of new.........now getting on for 18years old and still working.....only prb it's 110volt but I use a lot of 110volt gear anyway..... has it's own dedicated transformer......
frank.
Also looked at the Bosch http://www.axminster.co.uk/bosch-gcm-8-sjl-216mm-slide-mitre-saw-ax923086 but don't really want to spend that much if I don't have to.
Mitch.......Im fancying that Bosch one. Looks good and not a bad price if its as accurate as the write up says it is. It gets a good review on here....https://www.mitresawzone.com/reviews/bosch/gcm-8-sjl/..........theres also a Makita but its at best £150 more but its a 10"........Ive renovated some pine cupboards so Im getting them on the bay and see what I can afford.........keep the old one for cutting rough stuff.......Ive also got 2 others for thatThe Bosch has a remarkable cutting specs for having the smaller blade, very little difference to the 255mn Evolution.

Cuts spot on now.
And it may be a idea to get some ear protection I use ear muffs on both the furry and evolution stee when cutting steel l ☺
Like the others have said cheap = rubbish.
I bought one from b&q and it was utter junk, went in the skip before Christmas. It couldn't cut straight to save it's life. Ended up using the Makita circular saw and a hand saw to make a work bench because I could make way more accurate cuts with either.
Did you adjust it? Everything on the Rage 3 is easily adjustable.
