which mig welder??

Hi all, I'm a newbie on here so I'm sorry if I'm asking an age old question. I am looking to purchase a new mig unit, it will be used for gates and railings, garden furniture etc. Using single phase supply. Was looking into the techarc 231, anyone used these before or know of any other alternatives, budget around £500. Any advice would be appreciated,

Welcome to the forum, can only speak for what I have..a Portamig..great machine and was used for the exact same reason as yourself before I stopped making gates etc.

They are single phase but like all machines that go above 150 amp you will require a dedicated fused supply or you will start to blow fuses...however I have always run mine off a normal 13 amp socket, mostly around the 160 to 180 amp setting and a couple of times at 235 amps for short bursts... no fuses blown yet.
