Your not the only one, it seems we are in something of a between time technology wise. personally I am between the lorch m-pro 252 control pro or the ESAB origomag C251 OR a more portable though lower max power Inverter, the deciding factor on the inverter if I take that route will be service and warranty as I want to see it fully pay for itself within the warranty term.
Inverter is lower power use remember over a transformer base plant could be as much as 40% less I think ? so that in itself can be a big factor - if your in your shop with it at least, out on the clients power who honestly cares but then the transformers are such a bigger heavier bundle
