Depends what you were doing with them, for me with CAD and Rendering work GPU performance always mattered 10x more than the CPU
Definately.... IMHO.I am actually wondering if it may also be a memory issue, only have 4Gig at the workshop but 16Gig here.
I recently tested as I could not even load fusion inside 2 mins.We will find out next week![]()
Is the 4gb a single strip?Aye but as it is a rendering kind of issue I was thinking more graphics. Time will tell. I will also have a look at some more RAM, have a few sticks here but all too old sadly. Think it will be DDR3 in the workshop PC.
Still regret passing that up. Got a bargain thereI recently tested as I could not even load fusion inside 2 mins.
I stopped some of the more ram using programs and it all loaded up instantly.
I am still sorting out the mobo ram and CPU I purchased from a member. TIME and illness is my enemy.

I think it is dual 2Gigs.Is the 4gb a single strip?...
Win7 still on both PC's.If you're running Windows 10 I'd go for 8Gb minimum RAM, going from 4Gb to 8Gb transformed my i7 gen 5 laptop which runs fusion 360 with no problems but would benefit from an SSD.
I don't think task manager will tell you much, RAM normally reports 80% odd full however much you have!
I even made sure to get one with a TB3 port in case I needed an external GPU, it seems graphics aren't nearly as important as I thought.

Laptop graphics have come on in leaps and bounds since I got involved initially. My laptop has a 1050Ti which almost never fires up because the internal graphics are apparently enough to run Solidworks, even on a 4k monitor.I even made sure to get one with a TB3 port in case I needed an external GPU, it seems graphics aren't nearly as important as I thought.
I don't game but when I first got it I did download Apex Legends just to see how it runs, that got the fans going.![]()
and refused to continue unless it could. I eventually managed to get a phone number for the company and said why doesn't the offline installer work, well, offline. Oh it should sir, well no it doesn't. Oh... can you plug in the computer to the internet to see if that fixes things. No. Why not? You've heard of the Official Secrets Act right? Yes. Well think several levels above that, this computer is under no circumstances going anywhere near the sodding internet. Oh, I notice you have support in place, can we send someone around? Um no. Why not? Did you hear what I just said? Here's a revolutionary idea: can you make your offline installer, well, install offline?
That's why use mere mortals get confused... I purchased based on the fact bigger ram should be better. I will have a look when I get time. I am snowed under with tasks that are all intertwined... Most with make my life easier or are needed to be done in order but weather and wife are slowing me down... LolAye, it was the graphics card in this case that made a difference. Went from the older 4 Gig down to 2 Gig but a newer and you can see the huge difference it made.
Have some memory to try but will have to wait until later as I have the CNC lathe running and I am jumping back and forth to that.
