Which gloves for painting and mechanics?

What do you guys use for semi-disposable gloves? I have just got into the habit of using the blue nitrile gloves which come in boxes of 100, but a splash of solvent, or a scratch and they just disintegrate, it is annoying and wasteful. Time to change tactics. I hate getting solvents and old oil on my skin though.
I know there must be gloves which are more durable, but still close fitting and thin enough to feel fasteners etc. And they don't mind a bit of white spirit or panel wipe. Even if they lasted a day, it would be more sensible. The MOT garage across the road use black ones (they are shut or I would ask them now)

They come in different brands but they last all day. Don’t rot with hydraulic fluid or brake cleaner and are grippy.

You get decent dexterity with them and I’ve got big hands so they make a 2XL which is good. Smaller ones burst.

Not all Nitrile gloves are created equal.
Those orange ones @James1979 shows, are still nitrile. I personally hate them, as I hate the thickness and texture, but they are still just a nitrile glove.

I'd love to suggest a brand, but the reality just now, is everything is pretty much pot luck from most suppliers.
We get boxes from one of our suppliers that vary from horrendous non-stretchy things, to tearing at the slightest nick, to good quality that last a while. It just depends on what they happened to have sourced.

I quite like the Skytec series of gloves for thin stuff etc., the Skytec Aria or Skytec Ninja Lites

For working outside in colder / damp weather I quite like the Argons which the other half put me onto.

I get though a lot of these type of semi disposable , I like to take gloves off frequently and find the full nitrile ones fiddly.

But as you say, solvent is an issue and eats the rubber leaving black smears on stuff you are trying to clean up. When using solvents I swap to PVC gauntlets which I can feel bugger all through!

I bought a couple of boxes of the orange 'tiger type' gloves .....PRO . TECT orange HD not particularly cheep but what is these days ?

I find the orange ones tear easy but are otherwise good for car work anyway.

These orange ones are ‘Ignite’ and what I get out of choice. They do.

The price went stupid during rona and I had to get what I could. Tried all sorts and ended up back with these

As an aside I’m typing this with them on so those that use tablets for work that may be a thought

I dont mind the oil and thinners on my mits it's just mud I hate.....
when the wife asks for that kinda digging/planting help I glove up.....hahaha...
I can remeber useing BlackJack as a yuf, no gloves then......hahaha....

I must confess, rightly or wrongly, he only thing I use gloves for is creosoting. These to be specific:

For everything else I use a good hand cleaner.

I use these PU type from Lawson.
They used to be about 40p/pair but gone up a bit.
They are ok for a bit of everything but grinding sparks kill the back of the glove.
If i use a pair a day it's not too expensive and usually buy 50 at a time.

I use disposables, some brands are decent quality but even then I'd normally get through two pairs a day. Others fall apart in seconds. I got a big box of Ansell Microflex when Zoro had them cheap. They are a consistant quality that holds up to thinners quite well. "St johns" nitrile gloves are also good, had about 10 boxes off amazon.

Ive found storage is important for nitrile, moisture weakens so I debox them and into poly bags, squeeze the air out and they last longer.

I bought some from the safety supply company, black with nitrile coated palms and they are good for most things I do. My wife claimed some for gardening duties as well.

I always try and get Bodyguard GL897 black nitrile gloves, they seem to last much better than others I've tried (probably still get through a few pairs in a day though)..
