Which courier to engage to pick up a small parcel

Any suggestions - I haven’t done this in a while, so would need to set up an account I guess?

Much to many's disgust I expect, I just use Hermes. You can register, or you can pay as guest. Collect or deliver it to your local pickup point.

Although I was pleasantly surprised to discover Royal Mail were considerably cheaper for a parcel going to the Channel Islands.

You can just book DPD online for collection.

I am sure everyone will have their own ideas but I generally (up to 100 parcels a year) use https://www.myhermes.co.uk/ but there will be a barrage of people saying you shouldn't

I also use Parcel Force for large parcels, or dpd for heavier (but still can be carried) parcels

I generally drop them off to their drop points which are usually conveniently placed in village shops or sometime large shops

if you go on parcel monkey it gives you various options of other carriers

I do not recomend Interparcel as theye were worse than useless when UPS "lost" a big heavy parcel I sent in January, seems that they carry their own lost parcel cover, i.e. any claims come from their own pocket so they are VERY reluctant to process any, six months for it to be declared "lost" was taking the pi55

I use parcel2go and pick whoever fits the needs for each parcel. Have always worked out cheapest when I've looked.

I usually use senditnow.com for collections which is royal mail/parcelforce.

I use UPS via Parcel2go ..the drop off system works way better for me. Last one was 15kg cost £8.90
even through the last 18 months they have been great

Anything under 2kg and the size limit goes Royal Mail 2nd class and anything over is usually Hermes, DPD or Parcelforce for the biggest (up to 30kg).
Only ever had one problem and that was with DX who lost a vice, then delivered it two months later.

I send about 30-50/year,the ONLY one I’ve had regular problems with is Hermes,however the local driver is brilliant and points me where to complain.never used them since.

If it is small parcels it might be worth looking at a Royal Mail OBA account, they are only designed for letters and small packages but work pretty well for jiffy bags and the like.

SMALL parcels? That would be of interest. I have a couple of coilovers going back to Spax, 8.5Kg that I need to book on somewhere.

I have just organised my pallet back from Kent with that gearbox on it using your service.

To be honest we don't really want small UK parcels. No money at all in it. But glad to help any forum members.

Sounds like you're going to use RM/PF but I'll throw in a late +1 for Hermes. Always found them very easy to use, cheap, and they've never lost a parcel of mime. I think they charge an extra 30p to pick up a parcel which is pretty much a no-brainer.
