At long last, 4 years + , I'm at long last starting on my rotisserie/spit for the car!
Still at the planning/mock up stage but at least there are a few 7.6m lengths of box here now.
Where I'm getting stuck is, the bits that have to be adjustable, I'm don't have a clue which bolts I should be using. eg. mounting the arms that bolt in the chassis to the crossbar, arms and crossbar are 40x40x3 box.
My plan is to weld the arm to a short length of 50x50x4 that will slide over the crossbar and put a bolt through the whole lot to locate it, 8mm 10mm 12mm ? Can't weld direct to crossbar as the chassis flares out.
The crossbar will be bolted/welded to another 50x50x4 at the centre to attach to the upright which is the swiveling arm. Here I had thought about a longer bit of 50x50x4 with 2 nuts welded on, so I could use it to clamp on to the upright? Is that feasible? Would, say a 100mm length with 2 12mm? bolts clamp down tight enough to hold the weight of a small car?
I know a picture would have helped but it is 80% in my head and 20% chalked on garage floor
Off to get my £49.99 Rage unpacked and attack those lengths of box
