Which ac dc plant

Hello everyone. ive saved up the money for an ac dc inverter my choices are
1. lorch t220
2. kemppi mls 2300
The kemppi is 230 pounds cheaper than the lorch also has microtac everthing
else is much the same but the garantee 12 months parts only. more backup in
the uk

the lorch has 3 years garantee parts and labour. its also dropable from 60cm
and lighter. less backup in the uk but has a filter

Any advice from you all on any other manufacturers i should consider. or which choice i should go for or anything ive missed .

I guess you know which I'd recommend.

Had a quick look at the Kemppi. I assume you're looking at the advanced control panel? Either way it's heavier than the Lorch, looks far less user-friendly and doesn't have a control panel cover. On the upside the Kemppi's output is ever so slightly higher.

I think it does have a plastic control panel cover.

Youve got a UK rep for Lorch on this forum, that i imagine would happily help you with any difficulties...

If the £230 isnt a major issue, id go with the lorch, for the extra warranty....however, kemppi is also one of the finest.
I cant comment on either machine, never used either. However, a quick glance shows the Kemppi has a higher duty cycle, 100% at 170a as opposed to 60% at 170a of the Lorch....

So on one hand, go for the Lorch, on the other hand, the Kemppi.... hope i helped

Snowy's probably the man to ask. He used to be a firm Kemppi advocate (think he's got a MasterTIG as well as an old transformer TIG) but he's now got a couple of Lorches (including the T Series) too so will probably have a good idea of the pros and cons.

Iv had a couple of kemmpis (still got a massive Christmas tree for thick work) both have been good machines, the Mastertig 2500 was sold when the Lorch came along and was bought circa 98 and has never missed a beat.... like for like both the kemmpi and the Lorch should offer the same sort of features, the busy panels on them although laid out in different orders are similar in use, this would be a criticism of all machines, a proper display so full words could be used instead of abbreviations would make using an unfamiliar machine much much easier.........

I think the lorches arc is excellent and amazingly stable for such a small 1ph machine, better than the 3ph mastertig, the only downside I would say on the Lorch would be the A/C noise it can become hard on the ear sometimes with certain parimiters.....

Overall I would choose the lorch, you've got Matt(bad welder good liar ) Stacey to back up service and offer help (on here) and on the phone, and the 3 years warranty, If you can afford it get a cooler at the same time, IMHO makes the machine far more friendly..

The kemmpi wouldn't be its closest rival IMHO it would be the Fronius Magicwave 2200, this would be a very like for like machine, however I don't think it comes with the 3 years, and its a question of what the local dealer is like..........

Thanks guys for youre help. im just waiting for a price on a lincoln invertec 205t for me to make up my mind. a friend of mine who does ac tig welding
for a living 2mm 3mm stuff had a murex tradestig 353i also a kemppi mastertig
2500w.the kemppi he did not like unstable arc compared with the murex tradestig 353i which im told is a stel. ive already made up my mind on the lorch t220 unless the lincoln comes in cheap which i dont think it will.another
contender is the thermadine but ive been told to leave well alone. so it looks
like the lorch it does have a few features that the rest dont share

1. dust filter
2. 60 cm drop height
3. 3 years parts & labour g tee
4. 100 memory settings
5. pulse to 2khz
6. weight 13.4 kg
7. size small

They were too off the main reasons why I went for the lorch as I can be a bit clumsy three years parts and labour is a fantastic guarantee the Labour party is what makes it as a part costing 100sh can cost three or four times that amount in labour well worth the extra couple of hundred
don't get me talking on how stable the ark is or we could be here all night

We use Kemmpi at work and I can't fault them. The Lorch units look to be very good, and it's nice to see a manufacturer fitting a Dust filter as standard. I think that's more to do with a 3yrs warranty, realising the damage the metallic dust causes, and the warranty issues that result. In the end though it all adds up to a machine I think has had a lot of thought put into it. I'd look at one if I needed a new machine.
