Where to source racking for a single garage? South Wales / English border.

Looking for suggestions please - I'm adding storage in a lock-up single garage near Chepstow (South Wales on the English border).
The garage has a car and motorbike in it, looking to put a couple of shelves on the back wall above the motorbike.
Doing similar at other places I've used a frame made of angle iron / dexion.
Any ideas where I can find something suitable in that area?

Walls are strong breezeblock so could be used as supports but I'm expecting to put 4 uprights (2 either side), 2 pieces across the full width of the garage, maybe some braces from front to back, and some kind of board on top as a shelf.

I'll be doing some driving so anywhere along the Midlands - Chepstow - Swansea route would be ok but the closer to Chepstow the better..



ps If anyone seriously wants a "barn find" VFR750 project send me a message, it has problems but has a stainless exhaust, never been dropped etc.

I've got a garden full of the proper Dexion racking. No shelves left but loads of uprights. You can cut and bolt them into shelf setups if you want. I know they won't take the several tonnes per shelf the proper stuff does but you're welcome to some.

That sounds ideal - yes please to a handful of pieces.

I had a similar setup a long time ago, it worked well and got moved between several garages over the years.

I'm hoping to be around your way in about a week (depending on classic cars, public transport... ), will let you know when my dates are confirmed

breeze block is not strong but concrete block is

if you want to be sure which type you have drill it with a 7mm stone bit though a wood bit goes into breeze block rather easily

but a stone bit will make sure if it drills fast then its breeze block if it takes some drilling its concrete block

If you end up getting any of the cheap pressed steel racking with the hardboard bases, budget getting some chipboard or ply to redo them. The crappy hardboard just sags even with a tiny amount of weight. Otherwise the cheap stuff is not too bad really, it can handle a decent mount of weight (make sure it's bolted to the walls though.)

This is the stuff I mean, the quality is pretty much the same only the price varies.

If you have the money look for pallet racking though, its worlds better.

Edit.. I didn't read your post properly. You are looking for wall shelving, not the floor standing racking.

Thanks everyone, top choice so far is the used dexion I've been offered and I'll find / make new shelves.

My old racking had chipboard shelves, ok when new but they sag with age when loaded with tools & car spares, suspect I'll splash out on some decent plywood this time.

Wall mounted would work and I thought about it but I'm expecting to use floor mounted uprights for simplicity & strength @barracuda816
