Never bothered with meths with my X300, just a bit of old t-shirt soked in paraffin works fine to heat them up,

used to heat mine with a propane torch 2 much piddle on with paraffin so now use a propane roofing torch with economizer trigger and a long hose

About £2 per litre is about as good as it gets in my experience.

I've tried red in my x300 and it does not burn as good as paraffin. Soot builds up too. Bite the bullet or get a propane set up. I don't think there is any other choice. How much area do you need to burn?

If I knew the actual specification required, I would be sourcing it at a far better price than that - but delivery may amount to quite a chunk of that price. Remember, too, that for 20l in a container it will include the container and VAT at 20%.

About a 12 miles round trip I could get a 20 litre container for £7 cheaper, so about £33. When you go there the paraffin is put in to a 20 litre container. If the bulk container is made of steel (and especially in cold weather) there is a possibility of water due to condensation.

When I was a kid I used to fill the parrafin cans for my mums village shop as many of the residents still cooked on primus stoves and used it for heat and light!! It was 1/-6p for a gallon!
