Got one sitting in my unit at the moment, the only real thing holding the front and rear together is the tunnel and the roof skin! The guy who I am fixing it for started it a while back and handed it to me to finish. Unfortunately when I clamped my panel to the one he welded in his weld came undone... Now got to grind out his welds and do all that work to
I see the city as a cheap option to start with, they have less rust than the new ones 1995 On and are fairly easy to repair - think MK3?
A mini is a good welding project but will also test you! everything is very tight and sometimes hard to get too. You will get to do a lot of under car welding so make sure when you get there you have good protection or you may catch fire.
Get a good welder and gas too as it will make your experience so much better
Does look like your going to need £1000 to £2000 to get you going... If you keep your eyes on the papers and paper autotrader you will find the car. Most people look on line a very few look in the papers, this is where the bargains can be found
