I see your point but at non-fac ranges you aren’t liable to suffer all that badly in low level imho, certainly not enough to warrant splashing 1600 on a leupold or a Schmitt and bender. I did however borrow the landowners rifle the other month when I went rabbiting and packed up much earlier than I would’ve normally due to failing light, it was only a cheapy scopeAhh scopes, buy the best you can afford. Scopes are all pretty much of a muchness in good light. It’s in poor conditions where cheaper scopes show their real failings. I would spend 2k on a scope if I thought it would gain me an extra quarter of an hour daylight at each end of the day. So far the most I have spent is 1600 on a schmit and bender. Two and a half times the price of the rifle! It wasn’t an all singing all dancing scope, no parallax adjustment, no illuminated reticle, no tactical turrets. Simple 3-12x50 mildot scope. You don’t need all the crap on a scope that the sales rep tells you that you must have. There is a lot to be said for keeping things simple
