Where are butters welders made?

Just noticed that Butters welders seem to be appearing on fleabay a lot lately, in particular the AMT 1800 model.

I have been doing a bit of digging and can't find out who makes them.

The welders look quite attractive at £399 delivered inc torch wire and reg.

Are they any good?

Some of the butters inverter units are made in china, but are obviously subject to all the EU safety regulation. Not sure where there mig welding units are made. Weldequip would probaly know or Diywelding (but havent seen him for a good few weeks)

Not sure where their migs are made but their service cenntre is in Droitwich and their customer service is exemplary. I have a 211 which had a failed thermal sensor, even though it was out of warranty they sent me one FOC, then....a capacitor blew due to a knock on effect of the failed sensor and they sent me one of those too. They even offered to replace the main transformer if I paid them an hour's labour as the original thermal sensor is wound into the transformer.

We sell a lot of butters machines and are one of the premier dealers and they are very good machines and the bulk of them come with 7 years major parts warrenty, cant argue with that,

But they are Chinese aren't they ?

Some of their Inverters are Chinese but their MIGs are Eastern European.

Butters MIG

Butter MIG sets have a great reputation, the first set I used was 20+ years ago, just today, I gave instruction to some welders on a 220 Butters mig, exerlent piece of equipment for a very basic machine, highly recomended.

Far as I'm aware they still have a good reputation, but I don't think it's old Norman making them any more. There are a few classic Butters fans on the forum - really solid nice stuff.

Yep, nice machines, I have a 211 and it's lovely and smooth for light to medium stuff, the duty cycles are a bit on the low side but no lower than many others in the same price bracket.

Hi Mike, yes,Norman is no longer in the frame, it,s ATM Butter now, the ATM 220 which I used today was just perfect, even obtaint Spry transfer in 90ampwith 0.8mm MS wire. many machines I've used in the past could not reach Spray, lower than 150-170amps.
