I do a little clay target shooting , got a good quality gun second hand , since then bought several stocks trying to get that made to fit measurement ...with out the price , although I have in total spent that on several rather than one , these can be re sold ,well then I spotted another second hand , although I modified latest to be a great fit I bought the latest on impulse , it went straight on and to be truethfull if I had it made for me it could nt be much better , and the best bit was it was the cheapest yet , some very minor fetling and its there , no doubt . So to sum up , I have had great fun searching and trying and got there in the end , many I have spoken too have got a made to fit ...only to find it was nt what they wanted it was what the stocker thought they needed , did nt want to go down that route. So the fun is in the journey and the bonus is I have what I wanted and will get a good return selling those others . happy days

Strangely that was one thing I wanted it for. Something to look forward to.....I don't seem to have much else lately.
To get a licence to print my own stuff it was 60 quid anyway. So in reality it's only 140 I have shelled out extra.
I might still be able to make a few quid on selling it and that's my goal to get money for my grandkids as all I can see is everything becoming unaccessible in the future.

Just need to do a few calculations..

Ironically even set on sports mode it seems to be no faster than my Ender 5.....not sure why after all it's only 4 straights. Not complicated.

I don't get buyer remorse. If there's something I'm in two minds about, I leave it a few days before purchasing it. That overcomes the impulse buy.

Regarding your point quoted, last thing I've ever wanted is to reach retirement age. That's why nowadays, having a steady income, I use it & spoil me, as if every day is my last.

The problem with pumping money into a pension is it's totally traceable and therefore taxed. I cannot access mine fully without giving 40% to the taxman.
If I continue as I am, I may last a couple or three years. If I can guarantee slipping away within 12 months I could take out £100k without paying tax and complete the bucket list in one huge binge!

As I get older I want less stuff. I want to get rid of the clutter, the clothes I don't wear, the books I've read and the others I won't get around too. When I see the stuff we have given away to charity like barely used dvds and cds, all the toys we bought the kids and they didn't play with, it must add up to thousands of pounds. Now Christmas and birthdays is a couple of small practical gifts and cash. I try hard not to buy much at all these days, even though there's stuff I can afford, because it's just another thing to find house (or garage) room for. I make an exception for cheap middle of Lidl stuff but even then it's got to be something I definitely will lose.

I think there comes a point where you don't own your stuff but actually your stuff owns you!

We're looking at moving house...a big concern for me is not wanting a place that will take a lot of time to maintain.

Yes, lol, I meant use. Though I've bought stuff because I think I'll use it, haven't needed it in years, then had to buy it again because I've had it somewhere so long 'just in case' that I've lost it.

My worst thing actually is buying stuff because it's a bargain, even though I don't need it. We have enough 10p rolls of wrapping paper to keep us going for a decade of gift wrapping. What's that about? Ingrained neanderthal scarcity mentally? Skint childhood showing itself in adult behaviour? Yorkshireness?

When I consider buying tat I haven't yet needed, don't actually need, or probably never will, as well as anything claiming to be able to make me money, or stuff for relatives that they desperately urgently need but can't be bothered working out how to get it for themselves - I consider how long it took me to earn the money I might be about to spend, how much I didn't waste money so I could own the stuff I really did want to own.

Then I consider I've been in Yorkshire long enough for some natives to think I come from Cleck-hudders-fax, and I reckon I ought to repsect that and follow their in-bred thinking of never owning trousers with short enough pockets that you can reach the bottom of . . . and if it ain't broke, don't replace it.

I helped a friend of my fathers go through simplification, as his years were climbing and had a bit of a health scare. He went mad and sold loads of stuff, stuff hed never use again. After about 3 months, his 4 bed detached with double garage was almost empty, after being full to the gunnels with man stuff. I was the tip run driver. He then set about his paperwork. Became obsessed with simple. His daughter asked me if I thought he’d lost the plot. I suggested he was doing it all for her, though she didn't really get it, as he had also binned many of her memories. At one point he suggested binning the settee as he never sat on it, and two chairs was enough for 1.
After he died, he'd left a letter for his daughter, explaining what he had done and where his money was. He had even basically put all his money in one place, only asset left was the house. Neat and simple, she had probate in about 6 weeks.

I now investigate, research look at buying stuff, but usually manage to refrain from spending, and Im gradually de cluttering.
