When I were a lad we never lived in a throwaway society, it were make do and mend

Was thinking this today when waiting for the crane driver to unload the truck at the scrappy. As kids we would have been drooling at the prospect of getting our hands on this lot thrown into one corner.

That is just crazy; so these go in the fragger, get sent to China where they were made in the first place. And then using huge amounts of power get turned into new bikes that f***wits will throw away again in a year or two.

Pretty well all of those look in better condition than the old bike I use to go to the local shops or whatever.

Factory just round the corner in Cowley. Used to be the Oxford Steam Plough Company, till Colonel Allen changed the name of the company when they stopped building ploughing engines.
Head salesman lived a few houses down the lane from me.

I still have some music on cassette....and my stereo has the facility to play them.

That Alfa is a thing of much beauty, and they didn't do too badly with the SZ either, although of a later era.

@8ob You'll remember this too - I reshaped the shape of the combustion chambers of a Mini [van] using a 'pull out' template from the mag. Happy days!!

A neighbour of mine had a Ford Pop and moved on to a very early 1600E then an SZ Alfa, all as daily drivers in the early 90’s. Try that today.

Edit: The styling grew on me back then as in the flesh it was quite a sight, different and rare. Delta Integralle were looked at similarly at the time.
