Wheel to turn gas on/off

Can you remove the knob/wheel that turns the gas on/off on boc bottles, to use on another bottle? The argo bottle I have at the minute has the knob to turn the gas on and off, the others have the small key/spanner. Can you inter change them?

Isn't the wheel integrated into the bottle in an 'if you remove it you get an explosive gas release' sort of way? I'm a fan of leaving this sort of thing alone. Bottle keys aren't exactly expensive.

I expect you supplier would severly frown upon messing about with the valves.
Buy a key, they cost less than a pint.
