What’s this worth.

I’m not a collector so I’ll be moving this on
It’s something I acquired about a year ago for next to nothing but google says it could be worth something. It’s not in the cleanest condition it’s obvious it’s been played with in a previous life. Any experts on here give me a rough valuation or at least tell me what I have
I know there are lots of copies around but this seems to be all original.

Problem is I can’t tell one from another cos I’m not an expert in this field.
Seen some go for over £450 and others go for £50.

Hmm. Nope. There header lied.

Id ask the father in law but that would require being nice to him.

He has cupboards full of collectable die casts. That's why hes always skint.

Ebay sold listings is a good indication but can still be very random, personally I would sit on it until the holiday period is over then list on Ebay and offer worldwide via global shipping programme.
But its still a bit of a lottery

I believe the originals were silver,as I had one as a kid, bought one of those gold ones years back,when they re did a limited no. re run in gold, and only recently gave it to a family member,boxed/mint, I know the little ejected man can fetch £50..but as for a played with car dont know.

From a bit of research the golds were the first issue in 1965 -1969 which is when this was dated. The silver ones came 1970.
A lot of the cleaner ones on eBay have reproduced boxes which are fetching lower brass. At least my box is 50 years old as tatty as it is. We shall see. It’s up to £2.20 now so no going back. If it makes more than £12 I’m quids in.
There was also 2 boxes a 1st and 2nd issue apparently. The James Bond logo on the second issue had bold black outline and not as sought after. If it makes over £50 it was worth the listing.

Because the film was “gold finger” so they changed the car colour to go with the film title. The actual car was never gold. I sat up till midnight last night doing some in depth google work on them. Apparently the back end of the die cast toy was all wrong compared to the actual car.

I had lots of Corgi cars and watch them on TV programmes, like that Orange Bloke. Im always thinking that I shouldnt have spoilt mine but then again thats what they were for. Ive never seen one go over £200 even in pristine condition in the original box.
I had the full circus set, Chipperfields...they other day the Crane and the Trailer carrying Lions went for £65...still in the box

Valve of some thing like this is always what someone is willing to pay in comparison to condition, But in the last few years i have seen played with toy cars fetching decent money as some like the idea of the used feeling, A guy i know buys them and puts them in cases with the worn box on display as well and sells them as vintage toys or desktop ornaments, So just because it is not perfect it wont make it undesirable, I love the Corgi and Dinky series die cast, I still collect the ones i had as a kid but the Vanguards range have started to take my attention recently.

I still have a load of mine from the 60's, I started to restore them but other things got in the way, I still have the original DB5, batmobile, green hornets black beauty, a Holmes wrecker, and a Lincoln continental limo with the illuminated tv screen inside it amongst many others,
A family friend used to work at the Mettoy company in Northampton where a lot of these where made, I had some of them before they were even on sale, My Dad also had the corgi display cabinet that was in Mettoys reception for many years, we had to get rid of it when he died, probably gave away a valuable collectors piece.

Some of the restored ones, these have all got the tin bottoms and are quite old.

It's rather neat, the way the toy designers skipped ahead ten years and depicted the sorry rusty mess that most Minis became.
