I was on the hunt for a glass cutter as I needed to trim some greenhouse glass and couldn’t find mine. So I delved into my grandads bedside tool chest which almost always comes up with the goods.

Anyway cutting to the chase I remembered I still had no idea what this is… Any ideas? I assume it’s part of something else.

The disc looks like it mates up to the back of a dial indicator.

That was my first thought too. Possibly part of a comparator stand?

Ooooh thanks @Erie Fred and @Scalarocco i think you are both on the right track there. I’ll keep an eye out for a base. If it’s anywhere it’ll be somewhere in the garage at my mums house I don’t think it’s in the chest.

without the post, check the kitchen, Mum is probably using it as a bacon press...a very accurate bacon press...
