What's the deal with brushless??

Looking to upgrade to milwaukee kit from makita atm

Decided on the make but brushless or not...

What benefits would i get because i haven't aclue if it's worth the extra money or if it's just a fancy thing you don't need

Battery life,weight,reliability,noise etc I'm guessing some of these are affected but haven't a clue really!!

I did hear that Silverline had a brushless SDS drill.
Brushless as you dont need to sweep up once it has died.

You don't need it, but it is nice. Whether it's worth the price premium?

brushed motors are DC

the brushless ones (that I've seen anyway) are 3 phase AC (tool has box of tricks to convert dc from battery to 3 phase ac)

more torque low down, higher top speed, more efficient and better speed control


but.. efficiency and speed control improvements are hardly noticeable if you ask me

Not much bad is ever said about milwaukee and now they've got a 5 year warranty it's a no brainer

Neither of my makita drills have lasted 5 years although both impact drivers still going perfect!!

Think I'll stick with them until they blow up which means i can invest a bit more in 2 brushless drills atm

but do u get 5 years out of batteries as well

All the Milwaukee Fuel stuff I've bought in the last 4 months has been 3 year warranty

All my Milwaukee are fuel and most are well over 4 years old as are batteries, no problems with any of them
The cordless jigsaw is the most fantastic jigsaw I've ever used and I've had a few over the years, always swore by my makita until the gear went in it and I bought the Milwaukee

I have brushless matabo. Weird starts and stops not bad just very different. Let's face it it's something we no longer hab
e to replace
