What's it called and where can I get it?

At the model engineering shows back in the day the was a Scandinavian guy who sold Aluminium Solder, does anyone remember? Does anyone know where I can get some? Or what it's even called?
Suddenly have a job in that would be an easy fix with this.

Very grateful for your kind offer and especially your link to Meltolit as they have some very interesting solutions that I may explore further. However after continuing my search through my "archives" I have discovered the stuff is called "Alutight" and I am on it.

I bought something similar on Ebay some years ago, look for aluminium solder, think the one I had was called "durafix"

Has anyone used this and is it any good or just one of these things that aren't really worth buying and just look good on the demo but are rubbish?

I bought some from that guy some years ago at a kit car show.
I've used it a few times - the parent aluminium failed first when joining sheet. I used it to add a bleed point to a stat housing - it went well.

That’s a weird coincidence, my odd Dutch neighbour just came round about a little welding jib, I don’t have the kit to do it but suggested he might be able to silver solder it. He comes back 10 mins later to show me a box of MAPP gas canisters and three packs of Alutite… No good for what he needs doing but I’d never seen nor heard of Alutite before and then twice in one day.

Might it have been Alu-Sol? It works at soldering iron temperatures, the flux smells of mouse pee, and it's useful, up to a point, but it wasn't particularly good. One had to be scrupulous at cleaning the oxide layer off the aluminium, and soldering straight afterwards, avoiding direct contact of the solder with the soldering iron i.e. heat the workpiece up and apply the solder to that. Alu-Sol is/was a Multicore Solder product. Loctite sell Alusol, which seemed remarkably similar to Alu-Sol, when I used it last.

CPC Farnell sell Alu-Sol and give the manufacturer as Multicore/Loctite.

Preparing the surfaces in an inert atmosphere, and keeping them there whilst soldering, might make it easier to make good joints. Most of us have access to argon, though nitrogen would work. Not sure about using carbon dioxide. It might work.

He's a Swede. Used to have a house in Lincolnshire, for the summer, and returned to Sweden for the winter, Still exhibits at shows. Will probably be at the NEC Restoration Show this month. Usually to be found in hall4 near the stairs down to hall 5.

I have some Alutight. Could post you some if it would get you out of trouble.
