Whatever Next. Bosch dishwasher now dead

Whenever my dishwasher dies I just end up replacing it with another free one someone is throwing out because they got a newer one or the handle broke etc. I could probably fix them by buying parts but that is never a guarantee so I don't try. Each one normally lasts a few to a couple of years.

The washing machine failed so I spent less than $30 on a few capacitors and a voltage regulator (and a spare). luckily the coating on the board could be broken off easily so it was no problem to fix.

Dad must be the only person ever to crash test a Bosch dishwasher. Bought new before moving down to the farm full time, it went back to Bosch under warranty 4 times.
Problem was there was no Bosch service Center anywhere near the farm which is situated on a pimple on a wart on the ar$e end of nowhere in the middle of South Africa. So, every time it involved loading it on the trailer and a 200mile trip up to Johannesburg. This occasion Dad decided to overtake a milk tanker that promptly turned right into a farm gate as he was alongside. Wrote the Primera off but catapulted the trailer with the machine over the top of the car into a farmers field. There was just one tree in the whole field, and you can guess where it landed up Firmly wedged in the fork of the tree.

Recovery company got it out and Dad paid for them to deliver the POS to Bosch so they could get rid of it. Kind of backfired as they delivered a brand new one a couple of weeks later, no charge
God he hated that thing, was just as carp as the first one. Bought a Miele after that which is still going strong

Check the seals for the top washer arm at the back of the unit where it”plugs in” when you push the upper basket in. If its gone loose water tends to spray all over the inside of the unit instead of just coming out of the rotating spray arm.

Oh and our washing machine died yesterday. Drain pump i think but of course its quicker and easier to fork out for a new one rather than try and get a pump. To be fair we’ve had 12 years out of it and its been hammeres

My Bosch stopped pumping / circulating water, so nothing came out of spray arms, just pooled at the bottom - narrowed it down to the combined heater / pump at bottom. Trickiest bit was finding the right directions off internet for taking it out as so many model variations. Obvious that pump is self-contained unit, and at £160 for replacement, decided to smash it open to see what problem was. The plastic impeller is basically attached by means of 6 tiny plastic pins (seems these are formed by injection moulding process) - in other words designed to fail ! Scrapped the washer as pushing 10 yrs old and found on Bidspotter website that Peacocks in Bedford have roughly auction each month of unused appliances - picked up a new Bosch Serie 4 for about £80 (inc fees, VAT etc) - albeit with cracked top - which is invisble as it hides under counter. Worth keeping an eye out for if no hurry / pressure to replace it just yet?

Buy Miele is the solution to domestic appliances. They may be double the price but do you really want to waste your time fixing or buying domestic appliances every 4 or 5 years?

I don't know how your story ended but following on from my earlier post

Our 27 year old Bosch just decided that it wouldn't work any more and only displayed F on the display which is a fill problem and/or tray full. This was solid error (left it an hour)

I tipped it up to empty the tray, replaced the rubber washer on the end of the fill hose (it was leaking as usual) and tried using it again, initially it still displayed F but after a couple of minutes running the pump it went back to working and has now done several normal washes again

Success for me, hope your story ended well
