It’s just taking that step. I feel secure at work and love the team and job I do but I want more it’s just making your self go for it which is the hard bit especially with a busy family life as well.

went to do a 4 week job rigging a boat in Singapore, that turned into 12 weeks due to crap ship breakdowns ( in the South China Sea) anyway, done the job flew home from Bangladesh on the Friday, lands in h/row Saturday morning, and on Sunday night the phone goes to tell me I was booked on the 7am flight out of Plymouth for louisiana 
that was the end. ..... Of my 25 year marriage.

Ive done Africa a few times, Angola is still offically at war up in Cabinda. Molongo was also an interesting experience. And a week in Soyo, bathed in deet was fun.
Ended up in the imigration jail a few times getting in, but the Mr fix it seemed to be able to fix it, the seamans book was also a bail out option with the second passport if required.
Nigeria...enough said, dont go.
Brazil was great fun, but it was a long time ago. I hated the North Sea, cold and stale, most frustrating place Ive ever worked. Korea was interesting both times with 20 years in between. Spent a few months in singapore and 18 months in northern spain. It wasnt all bad, and paid well.
The sandy sunny destinations, some pay better than others, if your going to prostitute yourself, might as well go for the best money.

This sounds similar to a company near me in Somerset, they convert tracked vehicles (excavators etc.) so that they can run on railway lines.
Every few months they apply for welders but the company never seems to grow any bigger so my guess is they are crap to work for as they can't keep their staff or there is a shortage of skilled welders locally so they are employing under skilled workers then letting them go if they don't meet the grade.

The fit out will start happening at Hinkley C in Somerset pretty soon, I can see the site from the corner of my smallholding and the groundworks look pretty advanced.

The downside with being a locksmith is being on call, getting called out at midnight because someone has come home half cut and snapped their key off in the lock.
I'm a VOIP engineer for the NHS and one weekend a month I have to be on call but as no one tends to use the phones at night it's extremely rare to get a call after 7pm or before 9am, even if I do get contacted 9 times out of 10 it's just a case of getting my laptop out and clearing a Do Not Disturb that someone has accidentally set on their phone so I never even have to leave the house.

Selling and re-programing them fob keys is a very good game to get into i will tell ya...granted the soft and hardware is a big outlay but some of the prices i was quoted for a new Ford Fiesta key was just plain insanity and selling them you don't even break a sweat
My mates wife locked herself out of her Range Rover, Rang the local specialist man, He turned up and it took him around three minutes to get it open, £150-00 for his expertise and a 10 mile drive,.
Not sure how equipped people on here are but there is a good market for engine/transmission swaps, adapter plates / sumps etc mainly bmw Getrag and zf boxes onto Toyota 1/2 jz and the uz v8 also the Nissan rb engines. I think mx5 adapters will be the next thing as people are starting to push way over 300whp and the strongest 6 speed didn’t last that long.
