Tidying up today so I could refit a skirting board, I noticed that some cabling that our electricians had rerouted to power an electric shower looked a bit odd. Closer examination with a mirror behind it revealed that the outer sheath had been damaged as they routed it down between a wall and a joist and under a T&G floor! FFS!!
I guess I need to expose this properly and cut it out as it isn't clear whether the damage goes beyond the outer sheath - it is longer than the pics below show as I can feel it (power off).
Two questions -
-- What's the neatest way to cut across a T&G plank so that I can relay it (I think I can get a thin saw along the tongues without too much damage for a short distance to the joist.
-- What connectors do I use on this cable - one will be behind boxed skirting and the other under the floor?
I really don't know why I pay people to do jobs sometimes. If that damage is deeper, I am guessing this could end up in a fire?! It wasnt tripping out when it was initially tested but it is all turned off now.
