.................................With the mole grip clamp you may need to modify it by adding a slim nut (instead of wing) ............................
Depends on the range of mole grip clamp you acquire. But if needed, you could weld a spacer on the end of the clamp to compensate.Hi thanks, would the clamps clamp down to zero? It would be clamping 3mm work. Just thinking with the wing nuts etc it would make it a lot higher
When I was drilling my "2020 survivor" etched copper/steel Christmas tree decorations I made a dedicated clamping jig from plywood (as I mentioned above) - I've seen the aftereffects of a piece of plate "helicoptering"Nippy vice is a good daily type of holder. Also got an ex mod hand vice. Anything long just hang on to it - worst is flat sheet, say 5 inch square by a quarter or less - finger chopper.
Works for me as well, although I do wonder why a lot of the holes I drill are triangular.....I just hang onto the job but leave the belts slack enough for them to slip if the drill snags
Typical with thin material, the drill bounces and grabs intermittently, you’d need a 3 or 4 flute drill to get close to round.Works for me as well, although I do wonder why a lot of the holes I drill are triangular.....
I can't comment on how they compare, but I've got one of the machine mart ones sitting on the parcel shelf in the hallway waiting for me to get round to photographing it & sticking it on the for sale forum section. So are the Machine mart Clarke xy vice which are around £60 any better than the £25 ones on ebay?
No, I just haven't used it since buying a milling machine.was it that bad?
Do you want to sell?
I've just posted it in the For Sale section with as many pictures as I was allowed to attach. I've said in the listing that you can have first refusal if the moderators allow it (I was too lazy to check the selling rules) as you're the one that made me pull my finger out and get it listed! It'll hopefully appear sometime soon once the moderators have reviewed the listing.thanks
