What type of thinners?

Hi folks, can anyone advise on the use of thinners? I am spraying a door and bumper at home, I have 2k basecoat and lacquer but only standard thinners.
Am I going to ruin the job if I use standard thinners and do I really need 2k thinners - is it that critical to achieve a reasonable finish.
I understand basecoat thinners are available but would these be ok to mix with the lacquer?

yep,you need 2k thinners.
no good for the lacquer.get the right products from where you got the paint & lacquer.

You can spray using std thinners, but may well get reaction when you come to apply clear coat. For the sake of a relatively small amount of money it would be better to get the right material.

Thanks guys - worth checking. I did buy 1 litre of 2k fade out/blending in thinners - is this generally used on both the base coat and top coat or just the top coat?

fade out would generaly be used to loose the clear coat edge up a door pillar or such
