Beech.
Alder goes orange when you fell it.
Sycamore is what I was going to say because it’s very straight grained but the larger ring has the wrong bark.
It’s always difficult from photos.
Beech would be heavier than sycamore but unless you’ve them side by side it’s difficult to tell. Is it quite a dense wood? Tightly ringed I mean.
