What To Buy

Hello,

I am new to this Forum and this is my first Message. I am in my first year at College doing a 3 Year Welding Course, and I am looking to buy a MIG Welder which I have a Budget of a £1000.

I have looked at the Top Range of SIP but have been told they are not as good as they sound, so could anybody give their advice to do with buying my first Pro MIG.

Build Car Trailers along side Security Doors and Window Grills and quite Possibaly Car Welding.

You'll get a very capable machine for a grand then, single or 3 phase supply?

As for the 1/3 ph this will depend on what type of lock-up I can get my hands on but I would prefer 3ph.

Most manufacturers of single phase machines run to about 250amps then it tends to be 3 phase one of the things to bear in mind is the bigger machines 250amps + normally have 40amps as the lowest power setting which can be a little high for welding carbody work
