What thickness of tin to repair car floor?

Is 20 gauge tin to thin to repair the floor of my ford sierra? I want to cut out all the rust and replace parts.

If your welder will weld it that should be fine, although it is steel not tin. If you go too thick it can be a pain to beat into shape in the floor well but 18g or 20g is more or less what the car is made of originally.
