Just be glad it wasn't an R8. Mate of mine had a neighbour who bought one then sold it 6 months later because its start up procedure included running for 10 minutes or so at a fast idle. Great if you're in the middle of no where but not so great when you're a surgeon leaving for work at 4am in a small village in Kent. He wasn't very impressed by having the car sitting there revving away unable to drive.

So he never let a performance car warm up or cool down

They're usually on some sort of swizz...probably a company car with payments made via a business.....a bit like all the new electric cars with naff all BIK tax (I'm not bitter )...under the wrap is probably a company logo

Mrs Cato told me it was there when she came in, I looked out the window and couldn't be 4rsed walking round to go out.

I think as others have said, it's more about being 'different' than looking good. The flock/suede look is as impractical as it is ugly.

In the late 60s there was a similar product called Velvotex IIRC? Used an electrostatic charge to make the stuff stand up , there was a Lotus Europa done with it in the Cambridge area at the time

I have been left with an image in my head. A hoard of model railway enthusiasts, all huddled round the car, all furiously shaking their electrostatic grass applicators…..

Ive often wondered how easy it is to get off? perhaps if it comes off ok its a good paint protector?

That’s the reason they want them legally registered to people hire cars are a nightmare for the police
