I'm trying to rebuild a Suzuki steering box, it's 1980's tech, non power steering. The factory manual doesn't give any details on how to rebuild, stating it's a specialist job.
I've managed to undo the fitting around the steering shaft:
Using an improvised socket cut from box section:
When it comes to doing it back up should I just use the same improvised socket or is there a proper tool for this? The improvised socket felt like it could slip.
Seeing as the factory manual says the rebuild is a specialist job, do you know what challenges I may face? The box is low mileage but is leaking, has rust floating in the oil inside, and I wanted to take it apart to get the body painted and shaft re-plated.
