hello all
I have an ifl i-tech 170 mig inverter welder, and id like to do some aluminium mig welding with it. I want to weld some alu channel, seen in pic.
I got a quote locally of 200 euros to weld it.
If i buy the gas and other bits to do it myself ill prob spend around the same amount and acquire a new skill, so it seems like a way to go.
So what I'd like to know is, what size wire to go for, and following that, what sizes for the following items:
• teflon liner (seems like there is only 1 size anyway)
• torch tips
• knurled wire feed roller
I have a spare euro torch that i can sacrifice. I've never taken one apart, but my plan is to shorten it, if that is possible, so that the wire feed has an easier job.

the only knurled roller I can find is the one in this ad, which is 1.2mm

Seems like that will be a good fit for this welding wire -

It seems very big though? ...1.2mm.... I've been using 0.8 wire up to now
.....what size tip should i get.... I recall reading somewhere to get a slightly larger tip than is needed
Any advice or opinions welcomed,
regards,
ned .
