Hi Folks
Doing more Daimler car repairs, now out in a yard with not sufficient mains power to drive my portable MIG 130 (a clone of the Cebora 130).
I've a 3kW petrol generator which won't drive this MIG either - on even the lowest welding setting the generator will stutter and almost stall to supply the power needed! Strange. I would have thought that the MIG eats about 20V at a mx of 130A, which comes to 2.6kW, which should be within the 3kW range of the generator. Alas it's not.
So, can you help me with what size of petrol generator (needs to be 'portable') I need to drive my 130A MIG? The 5KVA range of machines are commonplace, but is this going to be enough?
Thanks
