What size breaker

I've recently bought a new welder and it requires a 16a blue socket.
I've had one fitted and a 20A trip/fuse thingy type b I think rings a bell?
Today I thought I'd have a play and found that when I use the higher 3 settings it trips when pulsing the trigger.
If I use a 13a domestic socket I don't have this problem until the highest setting,it's useable unless I repeatedly pulse the trigger.
The welder is a Lincoln Electric 185 compact
I'm now wondering if this wasn't a high enough fuse? Or perhaps I'm missing something?

wel;l if your pulsing it the starting load is high and will trip a b type breaker .u could change it to a c type . only up the amperage of the breaker if the input data plate states a higher one and the wiring to suit

I'll get my kids in bed and take a look,what's the difference between a type b and type c?

a b typ[e breaker will trip at 3 to 5 times full load current on start up .a c type 5 to 10 times full load current

if your allready using a 20amp b type mcb change it to a c type

it should do as long as theres nothing a miss with the welder. a breakers only a few quid depending on make and easy to change

It appears that for my box the fuse is about £16?
I have a memera 2000 box type 2 fuses?

sorry I didnt read that, me personally I would use it but I have no electrical qualifications to back up my decision.

You have to be careful of some of the ebay one's, on TV it showed they were little more than a directly soldered joint and not a breaker as such, offering no safety at all.

The only difference was the printing was poorer quality, they raided the guys house and a bedroom was full of boxes of them, all big brand names, also dangerous phone chargers, Russian cigs, fake Rayban's, fake Gillete Fusions and much more.

I should imagine on ebay the used MCB's are more likely to be genuine.

I fitted a used c type fuse,unfortunately although it's remedied the problems on the lower power settings it's not helped on the higher settings.
I guess there's always the chance the 2nd hand fuse is weak,however I don't want to keep buying fuses to get it right.
Should I have tried a type d? Or a 32A type c?
It all worked fine before on the old fashioned wire fuses before we upgraded the electrics :-( and also in my mates garage.....again with wire type fuses :-(

Try a type d. Alternatively, change to a 32a type b but make sure you upgrade the wiring at the same time.
