what plasma again!!

looking at getting a plasma cutter, must be a clean cut on 6mm, 10 would be an added bonus, so far thinking r tech p30c, clean cut up to 8mm they reckon, or a sip46, anyone any experience with these machines or can you suggest anything else to consider budget 6/700euro, thanks

I have the r-tech, i bought it late last year to do a specific one off job of cutting up 8 sheets of 3mm mild steel. Worked great and the build quality seems fine, it never missed a beat with me. If i was going to cut heavier material like you want to, i'd go for the next model up (p50 ?).

I also have the R-Tech P30C plasma cutter. Mines 18 months old now and I use it commercially for about 6 hours per week. Mainly cutting 5mm plate, 4mm durbar, expanded mesh walkway and other bits & pieces that come my way, and I've never once had an issue with it, or has it let me down.

Look at the duty cycle of both machines

I'm with Ronan, R tech, but the bigger one if funds allow. I've got an R tech 40 which has worked hard for many years with no problems. Mate of mine has the 30. works well on thin stuff but the build is a lot more 'Diy' than my 40hf and you will never regret a bit more power.
Great thing about these cheaper end plasma's is the consumables are cheap so you can afford to abuse them a bit, metal templates etc.
Just don't drop stuff on the torch cable - expensive to replace.

I was using a friends Clarke plasma, and, every time the trigger was pulled, there was a (seemed like) 3 sec or so delay before the arc?

the sip has a two year warranty, had a play with one yesterday and it cuts 10mm like butter, will look at price of r tech 40, anywhere in Ireland selling r tech apart from wws

Yes but r-tech only make welding/cutting stuff, not everything under the sun like sip.

Wholesale welding supplies are the agent or stockists for r-tech in ireland. If you contact the uk r-tech people, they refer you back to wws.

Yes exactly the same. Plus if you look at the prices here in euro's and the uk prices in pounds, there is only a small difference.
