What Pillar Drill?

I think as I research it more, I may buy a 3-phase drill, and add a inverter.

Keep your eye on evilbay, you will get a good old british one for £100 if you'repatient and you will never, ever, regret it.

I have a really old bench drill and its drilled a lot of holes but the one thing i regret is not having a morse taper. How would the OP find out if an old British drill has a morse taper?? 9I guess he could ask but I just wondered if there are many about with morse tapers?

Looking at the spindle is the easiest way to tell. You'll usually see a slot for inserting a taper wedge/drift. The Pollard's which I've come across have MT spindles.

That's a magnificent beast, and likewise, 200 miles too far away!

Quite a beast that one! Looks like it takes up a fair bit of space tho!
