I have found out that the parameter chart that comes with the machine is intended for flat and horizontal. Even if I use a parameter setting for thinner steel, it's still too much wire feed speed for vertical up. Watching some youtube videos, it seems like 19 volts with around 200 inches per minute is a basic starting point. For going flat my machine says to set it at 20.9V with 456 inches per minute wire feed speed. There's no way that's going to work for vertical up. It seems like some guys on youtube will do a vertical down for the root pass and then go vertical up on the fill pass and the cap pass 3G 19mm plate. But what I'm trying to do is 3F. Not many videos for 3F MIG. What would you guys set your machine at for 1/4" (6.35mm) mild steel vertical up?
