what paint for wheels, 2k solid or 2k basecoat?

hi folks, im spraying the wheels on my car because the salt has destroyed the diamond cut finish. should i use 2k solid and then leave them to dry under the heater or use 2k basecoat 1-1 with base thinners then with 2k clear coat over the top. also can you put laquer over solid 2k, im sure someone once told me you couldnt.
any advise would be great,

you can put clear coat over solid paint.spray your wheel in 2k solid ,let dry .Flat with 800 w/d .Clean down then apply your clear coat .But if you are going that way ,you might as well go base and clear.

If you have corroded wheels, then you will need to get them blast cleaned before any paint is applied. Then you will need to etch prime, prime, and subsequently apply top coat and clear. Best way for painted finish on wheels is base coat then 2K clear coat, but unless you have all the proper safety equipment, you are going to have to use cellulose materials which are affected by UV, and dont provide as durable a finish as 2k.

What colour are you after? Silver would be best 1k base & clear. Solid colour, soild 2k, no need for clear.
With base & clear don't leave it long before clearing, there's a time window before the base crosslinks and adhesion of the clear will be poor.

id choose depending on colour , if theyre a solid non metailic colour then direct gloss as its easy

if you want a high sparkle silver then its gona have to be clear over base , as said straight on with the clear

Makes no difference if its COB or Solid colour, You would use COB if it was a mettalic.

Yes you can put lacquer over solid colour, Its the same product. That someone who told you you couldn't is talking out of their ****.
