What paint for machinery

I bought a head off a bridgeport milling machine from a member off this forum recently. Its going to be mounted on the overarm on my Tom Senior to give me a lot more capacity in the z-axis. I want it to match the rest of the machine, so what type of paint is best for machinery like this ? Synthetic enamel ?

I use Smith and Allens Tractol range. I have the base coat as well.

It looks like what i need, and its not expensive either is it ? Tenner for a litre.

have a look at vinnybyrne.com They are based in ireland + stock a great range of paints at reasonable prices, you might be pleasantly surprised !!

Another vote for tractol paint, goes on equally well by brush or spraying and dries quickly to a tough finish. Unfortunately you are limited to their standard range of colours but it is quite extensive.

I recently got a local motor factors to mix me up some selemix 7-610 single pack enamel to match my myford lathe and the were able to get a near exact match by adding in various tinters. It seems to be good paint, well priced at £15 per litre and the bonus is it can be applied direct to metal with no primer! Here is the data sheet on it.

Stationary Engine Parts sell what they call Tom Senior Milling Machine Green in their machinery paints range. I have used their paints on my Fobco drill and Myford lathe and they have come out well.

An update on this. I went to the local car/industrial paint suppliers last week. The fella who owns the place asked me what the paint was for, when i told him he recommended a manufacturer called BICCS industrial coatings. The paint i bought was a solvent based single pack paint, bicholux spray enamel. He recommended i just thin it down with 2 pack thinners before i sprayed it. The great thing was BICCS do a green that was so close to the green Tom Senior use, you couldn't tell the difference.
