What oil for air compressor do i need ?

My compressor gets very little use in Winter, so I drain and refill it with 10W40 oil before the first use every Spring. Occasionally it's reluctant to run despite having a new starter cap, but a drain and refill fixes that in short order. Note that I normally drain, refill, run for a couple of minutes and then repeat the process to flush out anything that shouldn't be in there. It's quite shocking just how crap the first flush can appear!

Well as you can tell from my photo of compressor its not quite a new model but at 150ltr tank running 14cfm , hp3 can not be bad at 100 pound .. spent a few pound on new drain off valve set up maybe a new spare belt and new oil , be like new ? Not put a plug on it yet to see if it runs

No, it was electric.

HA Yeh I had one of those wind up compressors the bloody things spring would run out,just when you hadnt quite finished spraying the car. !!

Have emailed fps compressors.co.uk about oil for my nu-tool compressor , while I wait for reply I have drained the tank and got two washing up bowls full off rusty water not good but now the hand screw type plug is crap would like to replace with leaver valve ?

Can anyone advice me what I need or what you have done for better axess for draining ?

Fps compressors.co.uk replied to my email about correct oil and said I need recip-fluid-plus mineral that they sell , wait for it £15.00 + vat and £12.00+ vat posted

Think you'll find that you don't actually need that particular oil!

my compressors get erm oil

sae 30 motor oil, atf, multigrade motor oil varying from 15/40 - 0/30 . most compressors have the cranck supported on ball races or roller bearings so they dont really care about the type of oil they are getting as long as it's wet. the big ends are splash lubed plain bearings but are relativly under so littel load at relativy low temps any oil thats not overly thick will do
