I'd like to buy a new earth clamp for my Clarke 135te, as the one that comes with it aint that great.
Would i be better off getting a 200 or 400amp one ?
Either will work, all I would say is check what size cable the bigger one takes, it may be too large a connection to clamp your cable on.
Don't know too much about the clarke range but am guessing output of 135amps max? in which case the 200 should be ok, I use a 200amp clamp with my SIP 180 mma set and had no overheating of the clamp even using 3.25 rods with it.
If its a spring loaded crocodile type they can tend to go off centre after a little use due to the spring pushing on opposite sides, no problem on flat plate or pipe, bit can slip off narrow sections.
The crocodile ones are probably the best, but avoid thin metal ones with a central spring. SIP ones look massively constructed. All for less than a fiver.
Hi Scott, Now them Lenco jobs look good. I like the idea of the Flat mouth on um, look like you'll get a good grip on a thin edge. (eg. Sills on my VW camper)
The one on my Clarke has just got the 4 teeth at the front and dont seem to clamp that well, almost slightly twisted.
Anyone know where we can get these Lenco one over here ?
They work well and have a huge clamping force; takes 2 hands to squeeze it hard enough to clamp on anything over 1".
I also bought one of these for a welder I sold. Work well and was inexpensive. I do see they ship worldwide. Not has heavy duty as the Lenco style, but solid brass.
