It turned out to be the "very rare" (according to lathes.co.uk) Centec 2C, weighing in at nearly half a ton, and it also had two boxes of cutters and the horisontal kit too
Together with my brother in law, we managed to move it into a van eventually. It was a struggle, took around 3 hours getting it in, and then two hours getting it out to just in front of the garage, where it was left overnight.
In the morning I moved it into the garage on my own and then into position. This took most of the day as I had to re-arrange the workshop.
I've left the lower part of an engine stand underneath, but it's all blocked up too underneath, so not all weight is on any one thing. Seems stable enough. The engine stand was left in there in case I need to move it at some point.
Now all that remains is to hook it up to the 3 phase converter again and get the DRO all set up - I'm scared I might have damaged it in transport.
Anyway, here's a shot of the centec in all it's glory. The vertical head etc are sitting on the workbench behind (which needs a tidy up).
