I watched a video last evening about them making Porsche's it was quite amazing , the leather work was beyond belief , the details in the seams and the stitching was perfection , yet in the same video in the same plant the guys doing the engine work was quite rough at times , they were putting bearing caps on con rods and tightening them up one side at a time ,, and they through the gearbox at the engine like they were throwing a bag of spuds in a shopping trolley , and the paint looked amazingly average all the time even when on the last stage of quality control it looked like it was painted by Jaffa ,,,,

A motorcycle dealer I called on in the 80s had a nice Roller, never took it the shop though, he said customers would think he was ripping them off.

That's an understatement. However, is that simply because we older type simply recall how they used to look? Do younger generations actually like the new look? As you said, did older generations dislike what we thought looked nice.

No. Not for a minute.I agree @Parm , but I'd also have to agree they've become a little unattractive.
Though this begs the question, did people of our age now, back in the 60's/70's think the same of the then current offerings
The Silver Shadow was a beautiful car, of its day and since.
There were some that regarded it as the Escort of Rolls Royce, but bah to them.

a mate of mine got some prices for plastering his new house . a guy turned up in a roller to price for it and my mate said i cant afford you he said id allways wanted a roller so ive worked away for 4 years and now got one
he was the cheapest and got the job
