its off a ficep iron worker and its what controles the rod that flicks the dog over to engae drive.. only its stuck in drive and ive narrowed it down to this being the problemIt’s a coil from a very old open frame contactor or type of solenoid by the looks of it some context of where it is, what machine it’s on and what it is supposed to do might shed some light on it?
Ah - it’s a form of solenoid then, if it was a contactor you may have found a modern alternative but that looks quite “unique”!! As said it may be worth cleaning it up and seeing if there is any adjustment on it that might help. Sometimes if the core is too far out they won’t pull in correctly but it could well be the coil is on its way out, bad connection or something like that…its off a ficep iron worker and its what controles the rod that flicks the dog over to engae drive.. only its stuck in drive and ive narrowed it down to this being the problem
Good point - if you power the coil too long without the core going fully in you can end up burning the coil out.As above give it a good clean but as it is moving a couple of mm, make sure the thing it attaches to dis-engages.
Can? You will burn it out!Good point - if you power the coil too long without the core going fully in you can end up burning the coil out.
Probably, but I’ve been doing this for long enough to know not to give guarantees…Can? You will burn it out!
