What is this tool?

I have acquired a small box or bits and bobs, mostly model engineering related and some other engineering tools originally used at Napier & Sons many years ago.
Amongst it, is this tool- I recognise the logo on it, but cant place who/what the logo is.

The needle is spring loaded, and can be rotated 4 ways. As the thumb wheel is tightened the resistance against the needle increases.

Any ideas?

1st thought was a spring balance, the screw could be to set the zero point.

what are the increments on the bottom? What unit do they relate to? It looks very similar to a trigger pull gauge but cant see any need for the point to be able to rotate for that. Trigger pull is measured in lbs

If you move the needle the pointer doesn't change, that can only be moved by the thumb wheel.

0- 300, marked in 10 increments.
For an idea of size, the square body is about 100mm long.

I'd also say trigger pull gauge.....i've heard of napier with gun related stuff.

with a scale like that it is either reading in something like ounces or its not a trigger pull gauge. I had the triggers set at 4lb from something like 6.3lbs on my aya and the gauge the smithy used only read up to 20lbs in .5 increments
